At Balkerne Gardens Trust, we are incredibly passionate about supporting our local community. Towards the end of 2025, staff across the Trust came together to support a local Colchester food bank through a large donation appeal.
The response was fantastic. Collection boxes quickly filled with donations, including tinned food, soup, toiletries, toilet rolls, sweets, crisps, nuts, and many other essential items. By the end of the appeal, almost 80kg of donations had been collected across five full boxes.
The donations were delivered to the food bank collection centre, where they were gratefully received. The positive feedback highlighted just how valuable community support can be for local individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
We were incredibly proud to see our staff come together to support such an important cause. Following the success of the appeal, we are pleased to confirm that the initiative will return this August, with the aim of collecting even more donations than last year.
