Ways You Can Help

Balkerne Gardens is an exempt charity and a not for profit organisation. To help us maintain our services for the benefit of the growing population of older people in Colchester and the surrounding area, we are often fortunate to receive the assistance of local businesses, charitable organisations and individual volunteers.

Volunteer Opportunities

Balkerne Gardens would appreciate any amount of time you can offer. There are many ways in which to get involved and help, including:

  • Befriending individual residents
  • Helping to organise activities
  • Gardening
  • Helping with outings
  • Escorting residents and tenants to appointments and on other trips

Please contact us if any of these opportunities appeal to you.

Donations Make a Difference

The residents of Balkerne Gardens know that when they move to our accommodation they will have a pathway of care for the rest of their lives. Although Balkerne Gardens charges market rents/fees to our clients, we subsidise the cost of care for those who cannot afford to fund this themelves. Additionally, we invest any surplus back into the organisation to maintain our high standards of care and attractive environment.

To make a donation, please contact us, call us on +44 (0) 1206 543517 or send a cheque made payable to Balkerne Gardens Trust by post to:
