Activities

At Balkerne Gardens Trust, we believe that participating in group activities helps people maintain social ties. We encourage our tenants and residents to lead a full and active life within the limits of their capabilities. Our programme offers a range of activities that are organised in liaison with residents.

From gardening to bingo, discussion groups to art and crafts, we encourage the continuation of established hobbies and interests, as well as promoting involvement in a choice of new ones.

Similarly, we actively support residents who wish to continue their association with, and where appropriate visit, clubs, groups and places of worship.

Our schedule of events changes regularly, and typically includes the following types of activities:

  • Coffee Mornings
  • Arts/Craft Group
  • Bridge, Whist
  • Bingo
  • Spelling Bees, Word Quizzes and Other Games
  • Exercise Classes
  • Gentlemen's Club
  • Visiting Speakers
  • Ecumenical Church Services

Please contact us for more information.

"I feel privileged to be living in Balkerne Gardens. My flat is well appointed and the furniture my own. I am quite independent, but have the comfort of knowing that if I need help there is a 'supporter' here to assist me. I enjoy the Art and Craft class, the exercise class, the coffee mornings when I meet other tenants, and the ecumenical services every other Sunday." — Joan Bale, Tenant
